You all welcomed to the Department of Gender and Development Studies, Faculty of Multidisciplinary studies, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. The University, being a learning community, we are very passionate about sharing knowledge with our students and the world at large. Our Department is made up of talented lecturers who are great researchers and administrative supporting staff who are always willing to impact knowledge, develop and advance human lives. The Department of Gender and Department studies comprises five (5) academic programmes, namely B.Sc. in Social Work; Postgraduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies or Social Work; M.Sc. in Gender and Development Studies or Social Work; M.Phil. in Gender and Development Studies or Social  Work; and Ph. D in Gender and Development Studies or Social Work. The Department is accommodated along with other two Departments in the Gender Building, beside the Academic Office, opposite the Faculty of Law where the offices of the Dean, Heads of Departments, and Academic Staff are housed. We have full time Academic Staff comprising Readers, Senior Lecturers and several experienced Adjunct Lecturers.

Our students form a sizable number of undergraduate and graduate populations in the University. We build up our academic unit by nurturing relationships with our alumni, employers, friends in the community and other important external stakeholders. We will continue to keep the community and the society informed of what are going on in our Department. However, we require your ideas and supports from time to time. Our offices are opened and all our staff is ever ready to attend to those of you who need clarifications on issues about the Department of Gender and Development Studies including Social Work. The HOD’s office is Room 112 in the Gender Building. Our Department is moving forward in inculcating and enhancing gender equality, equity, gender mainstreaming, social welfare among others in the University, Ekiti State and the society. I wish to inform that several opportunities are offered to students who enrol for courses in our Department.
